The BEAR, FOX, and WOLF are anthropomorphic statues, three storybook beasts we might meet on a walk in the woods. A source of inspiration for the series was the depiction of nature in Lars von Trier’s film, Antichrist. As an example of visual storytelling it is exceptional, as the wild animals that appear in the forest symbolize human emotion and narrative through their shapes, movements, and simple presence.
Their clean, closed forms only occasionally display protruding body parts or jutting bones, leaving rest to our imaginations. It is up to us to complete their images, and we ask ourselves just how close we can allow the wild animal to come?
