ADESSYS explores how ceramic materials can simultaneously organise sound, shape perception and contribute to the architectural identity of interior spaces. The project reimagines ceramics not as surface finishes but as active acoustic systems integrated within architecture.
The research develops ceramic systems capable of absorbing, diffusing or combining both acoustic behaviours within a single architectural element. Rather than concealing technical performance behind conventional finishes, the investigation allows functional requirements to generate their own architectural language.
Developed through collaboration with Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), ADESSYS demonstrates how acoustics can become an intrinsic property of ceramic architecture rather than an additional technical layer.
Acoustic Diffusion
The investigation develops ceramic diffusers that redistribute reflected sound to create balanced and spatially rich acoustic environments. Their geometry is generated through acoustic performance while simultaneously contributing to the architectural identity of the space.
Acoustic Absorption
Porous ceramic materials are developed to absorb sound energy within selected frequency ranges. Material composition, porosity and ceramic processing become active design parameters that shape the acoustic qualities of interior environments.
Integrated Acoustic Systems
Rather than treating absorption and diffusion as separate products, the investigation explores how both acoustic performances can coexist within a single ceramic system.
Material behaviour, architectural expression and environmental performance become inseparable parts of the same design language.
